Who is BlackShares? 👋🏽

BlackShares was founded by a serial entrepreneur with a software engineering background, along with two advisors who also have deep technology, software and entrepreneurial experience. All of us are Black men, residing in the Atlanta Metro area.

We've seen first-hand the power of platform ownership and we believe digital platforms are the ideal starting point on our community's journey to economic-empowerment. The relatively low capex required versus other business models, along with the power of networks, connection and collaboration enabled by such platforms can quickly put us in control of our destiny and serve as the home base for everything to come (e.g. new businesses, buycotts, etc).

Importantly, we have hands-on experience building software products and digital platforms. We believe it's critical that the founding team have this technical background versus attempting to hire outside developers or agencies.

We've also bootstrapped businesses and know how tough it is when you don't have a vast network or access to venture capital; when you're trying to do it all solo. It's exhausting—frequently lonely—and the odds of success are stacked against you.

And, given that Black founders receive less than 0.5% of venture capital, we know that collaboration is even more critical to solving the bootstrapper's dilemma and get more Black businesses off the ground.

So, we asked, "what if we connected founders like us with other founders to support and advise each other? What if we also connected founders with creators and skilled freelancers, so they can help those founders to promote and build their businesses? And, since most founders are cash-strapped, what if everyone participated for equity and revenue-sharing (i.e. upside)?"

It would be a win-win: many more successful Black founders, while freelancers and creators earn more from their talents than previously possible.

And, the cherry on top? The BlackShares platform itself can provide every founder with the customers they need for more product sales and feedback.

One more thing: BlackShares shares its own revenue with members. and adds another percentage to an investment fund for Black founders. We believe in this idea of collaborating for shared rewards, and we're putting our money where our mouth is.
