The Harlem Renaissance brought jazz music to the world—yet Black artists struggled to own their music, let alone reap the full financial benefits.
In the 80s and 90s, Black athletes and rappers transformed sneakers from “affordable footwear” to a status symbol… But who owned the brands? Not us.
When Shedeur Sanders appeared to be demoted in the recent NFL draft to "teach him a lesson", he ultimately had no power because we don't own the NFL platform.
Social Media Today? How many dance trends and viral memes have emerged from the Black community and sparked global movements? How much of that revenue have we received?
